Wells L. Bagley

October 10, 1941 — July 8, 2024

Loa, Utah - Our kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Wells LaRon Bagley, age 82, passed away July 8, 2024 at his home in Loa, surrounded by his loving family. Wells was born October 10, 1941, in Salina, a son of Ellis Lynn and Della Elmira Anderson Bagley. He grew up in Koosharem, where he would go fishing with his Grandpa Anderson and his good friend, Don Torgerson. They would fish from the Koosharem Reservoir down the creek to Koosharem. He also loved to trap bobcats. He enjoyed eating boiled eggs under the hay wagon after taking care of the hay in the meadow.


Wells graduated from South Sevier High School, Class of 1959. He then attended College of Southern Utah in Cedar City before being called to serve an LDS Mission in Argentina for 2.5 years. He then attended Brigham Young University in Provo, where he got a Bachelor of Education degree, a Spanish and Biology degree.


Wells married the love of his life, Coleen Torgerson November 21, 1964, in the Manti LDS Temple. They lived in Koosharem in the summers, then in Provo while he got his teaching degree. His first teaching job was in Clearfield and then they moved to Loa, where he taught at Wayne High School from 1967 to 1997. He loved teaching the kids in Wayne County.


Wells is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in multiple positions. He spent many hours indexing old records for the church and reviewed over 1.5 million names.


Wells love to farm, hunt, fish and teach. He loved the elderly people of Koosharem and enjoyed spending time with them.


He is survived by his loving wife, Coleen, of Loa; a daughter, Wendy Lee Prisbrey of West Jordan; daughter-in-law: Sarah (Luke) Bagley of Monroe; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Berta Rickenbach of Bakersfield, California; and a bonus daughter, Delphine Pennie Thompson of Crystal, New Mexico.


He is preceded in death by a son, Bryce LaRon Bagley; his parents; and his siblings: Lorna Bagley, Don Ferrell Bagley, Colleen (Robert) Gehrig, Cornell McKay (Faun) Bagley, a brother-in-law: Paul Rickenbach.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.
