William Zurrell Potter

January 3, 1926 — January 11, 2016

Loa, Utah - Our kind and beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and uncle, William Zurrell Potter, age 90, passed away on January 11, 2016 at his home in Loa, just 4 weeks after his beloved wife, Grace. He was born January 3, 1926 in Loa, a son of William "Bill" Columbus and Mabel Brinkerhoff Potter. He attended Wayne High School. He served his country in the US Army during World War II. Zurrell married Grace McClellan, December 21, 1945 in Glenwood, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple February 24, 1951. Grace passed away December 13, 2015, just 8 days shy of their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Zurrell drove truck hauling uranium, coal, turkeys and potatoes. He also helped operate a sawmill on top of Boulder Mountain. In 1983, Zurrell bought part interest in a Cessna 172 airplane and was licensed as a private pilot in 1986. He enjoyed flying and has flown to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico eleven times. Zurrell was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions, including ordinance worker at the Manti LDS Temple for 11 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, four wheeling, spending time with the snowbirds in Yuma and Quartzsite and his family and friends. He is survived by his children: Raymond and Diane Potter of Torrey; Sandra and Stan Hunt of Loa; 10 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Arla McClellan of Richfield; Brink Potter of Loa; DeWaldo and Mary Potter of Ivins; Albert and Vivian Potter, Mignon Cooley, all of St. George; Viola Baker of Teasdale; Virge Arrington of Mesa, Arizona. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife; his parents; a grandson, Justin Giles; and three siblings: George Potter, Bonita and Mell Taylor, Cleo and Bill Blackledge. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 15, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Fremont LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 10:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
