Willis Poulson

April 5, 1923 — January 3, 2008

Redmond, Utah - Willis “Bill” Andrew Poulson, age 84, of Redmond, Utah, passed away peacefully January 3, 2008 in Henderson, Nevada, surrounded by his loving wife, daughter and granddaughter. He was born April 5, 1923 in Redmond, a son of Albert and Milre Anderson Poulson and spent his childhood and high school years there. He attended BYU Academy for a time before serving in the US Navy during World War II as a medic, stationed in Australia. He later returned back to his beloved hometown of Redmond and joined his father, working in the Salt Mining Business. Willis met his sweetheart, Marjorie Lowry, at the popular Redmondo Dance Hall. After romance and courting, they were married on March 25, 1949 in Redmond. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple April 24, 1952. They raised two sons and one daughter. Bill was a member of the Redmond American Legion Post #118 and the Salina Lions Club and contributed to many charitable foundations. Many times he mentioned fond memories of working with others, especially the time he spent working in the Manti Temple as an Ordinance Worker. Bill loved hunting and fishing and camping with his family. He loved cooking and being around people. He was always talking of the fun times spent traveling to BYU games, traveling and associating with his many friends. He gathered friends where ever he went and took a genuine interest in those around him. He will always be remembered and missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his sweetheart of 58 years, Marjorie; daughter, Tonya of Henderson, NV; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister and brother: Brice Poulson and Verle Peterson, both of Salina. He was preceded in death by two sons, David Poulson and Douglas Poulson and a sister, Venna Johnson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January10, 2008 at 12 Noon in the Redmond 1st LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Redmond, Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Redmond American Legion Post #118 will be in the Redmond Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
