Winona Allen Zwahlen

Manti, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Winona Allen Zwahlen, age 78, died June 1, 2011 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. She was born March 21, 1933 in Ferron, Utah, a daughter of Orvel Stanley and Sarah Lucille Keith Allen. She graduated from Ferron High School, Class of 1951. She married Arthur Neale Zwahlen, November 21, 1951 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died December 4, 1989. Winona was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as Stake Camp Director for the Young Women, Junior Sunday School Coordinator, and in various Relief Society callings. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and served as a Room Mother for her daughters when they were in school. She enjoyed handiwork, sewing and baking. Winona is survived by her children: Isabella Jensen of South Bend, Washington; Iris and David Larned of Smithfield, Utah; Sarah and Bart Ward of Spokane Valley, Washington; 10 grandchildren; three sisters and one brother: Mary and Reed Memmott of Scipio, LaVon and Kenyon Jensen of Gunnison; Kathleen Alder of Cedar City; LaVar and Linda Allen of Provo. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and one sister: Orvel Keith Allen, David William Allen and Dorthy Amelia Uremovich. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 12 Noon in the Manti LDS Stake Center, 555 East Union Street in Manti, where friends may visit with the family Saturday morning one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Manti City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
